Description

“Maneuvers Clinic”

The Maneuvers clinic will build your confidence and keep you from…

  • Fumbling along with your maneuvers while others make it look easy.
  • Making the rest of the group wait while you struggle (or walk) through more challenging sections.
  • Getting banged up trying to figure it out on your own, unsuccessfully, and wasting a lot of time.

Prerequisite for the Maneuvers Clinic

Please note:  The “Fundamentals” Clinic is a Prerequisite to participating in this clinic.

If you’d like to register for BOTH clinics on the same day you’ll get a $49 discount.

Fundamentals Clinics are generally scheduled in the morning on the same days as the Maneuvers Clinics.  Taking the Fundamentals Clinic ensures you have the skills you need to be able to perform the Maneuvers.

The morning session (Fundamentals) is generally from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.  We take 30-60 minutes for a lunch break then the Maneuvers Clinic goes from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

In the Maneuvers Clinic, as time allows, we’ll focus on things like:

  • Getting over obstacles (techniques to lift the wheels to get over roots, rocks, logs and more)
  • Climbing (seated and standing strategies to handle trickier climbs)
  • Descending steep terrain (no need to be afraid now that you have the fundamentals under your belt)
  • Cornering (how to get your body in the right position for cornering)
  • Improving Flow (have more FUN on your bike)
  • Switchbacks (tight turns going uphill and downhill)
  • Roll-downs (how to roll down off of larger obstacles)

You’ll learn the tips and techniques to pull off these maneuvers and, with some practice, you’ll find yourself riding at the next level in no time.

You may even find other participants that you can ride with after the clinic (some of my favorite riding buddies were students in my clinics).

If you’re ready to learn the maneuvers and increase the FUN factor…

Then go to the top of the page, complete the Registration Form, choose the Clinic Date, Check Out and let’s do it!

See ya out there!

Ahh what to say about maneuvers. This is by far a more complicated part of riding. Margie’s takes the time to explain and demonstrate some basic and a few more complicated maneuvers. Some of which will take practice on your own. As with fundamentals, there are techniques I thought I was doing correctly but wasn’t. The techniques were setup as drills in a safe environment to start. I really enjoyed the drills because they gave you a chance to try the maneuvers in less intense conditions while Margie provided some feedback. Then we were able to try out those techniques on some trails. By the end, I felt much more comfortable with my technique. Thanks for a great class Margie.

You were rockin’ it with the lifts, hops and cornering, Ryan!
Given you came into the clinics already having a good base, I’m glad I could help you refine some of your skills and become more efficient with some maneuvers.
Looking forward to seeing and hearing about how the tweaks in body position, etc. change your riding.

I have been road cycling for a few years and wanted to give mountain biking a try but was pretty intimidated having no experience on the trails. I started looking into Margie’s Fundamentals and Maneuvers clinics (you get a great deal when you do both in the same day). Margie was so friendly and supportive before I even signed up; answering my emails immediately and putting me at ease about my concerns as a new rider. I went with the women’s only clinic and signed on for both Fundamentals and Maneuvering. We worked on so many techniques in those 6 hours! I am so grateful that I found Margie’s class. If I had tried to go out on the trails on my own without working with her I know I would have thought this just wasn’t the sport for me. Knowing what I know now, thanks to Margie, I am confident and very eager to get back on the trails! There were a few sections of the trails I didn’t feel comfortable on and she was so supportive and concerned with us doing only what we are comfortable with so no undesirable results occur! Although I had a few undesirable results we immediately went over what I did wrong so I could correct it (or try) right away. The class sizes are small so you get all the attention you need to improve your skills as well as watch and learn from your fellow riders as well. I definitely recommend taking Margie’s class! She is amazing!

Thank you, Heather! It was so nice having you in the clinics on Sunday. I especially enjoyed your personality and your willingness to try new techniques until you got it. Now that you have the skills and maneuvers in your skill set you’ll have a blast out on your bike. Search out others in your area (MA) to ride with and check the NEMBA schedule for some rides for women and/or beginners. And please check in with me if you get stuck with any of the techniques so I can help you. You go, girl!
